I saw these a while back at a gun show in Sydney and found the site recently.

http://www.hawkscannons.com.au/

They look like they would be a lot of fun at the range, anyone here have one or have seen one being fired in person?

Probably depends on the state.
I'd imagine the bore size whould come into it as well. Those Hawks cannons are .50 cal and need a Cat B licence in NSW I believe.

Farmer,
An upgrade shouldn't be any problem,'cept you'd have to put in some range time.
you could get a log splitting gun and they're just a ml cannon with a bit of extra material and weight.
Here's a link to a US patent drawing, a lot of the ones that I've seen in NSW were much simpler and made out of old truck axles.
Last time I checked with Firearms Registry they had never heard of them, might be different now.

Just add A&B to your licence. I assume that since you have a C for primary production that you have some land you can shoot on which means you will meet the hunting requirements easily enough (thinks its two shoots a year on a property) to keep an A&B licence.

I don't think it will matter with firearms registry, a B licence is a B licence, as long as you have a another B licence rifle to meet the number of shoot's requirement then it should be all good.

Primary producer licence is a little different, for one its free to me, but the down side is i cannot shoot off my farm, there is no requirement to shoot any events, i cannot target shoot, or clay shoot etc.

If i get it changed to target i lose the C one and my shotgun.

so ill just have to miss out on a cannon.

Farmer, i think you have been misinformed. You should be allowed to have both C and A,B target license its just a matter of an upgrade as Roderick says. It could largely depepnd on who you get on the phone at your LSD. We had our new/learning DFO out to our club commitee meet last night and even he says he cant believe some of the conflicting information he has been told. It seems the police system is as bad as the medical system understaffed and ill trained.

Thanxs mate, I'll have to hit Warren up about them. Actually come to think of it Warren has a larger cannon sitting around at present :)

Back in the days when the fun police didn't really exist (except in their own minds) the late Peter Morton of Pt Kembla had a bronze 32 pounder ML cannon and we used to shoot it on the deserted beach south of the town.

Now that was fun. :D

Well i had 3 cannons, 1 x 50 cal 12 inch barrel, 2 x 12 ga 3ft barrels and a Full size 12 lb Coehorn machined to take coke cans, as far as WLB were concerned, all had to come out of the carriages and go in the safe...

In Vic is it legal to get a fullsize cannon?
